Dimension Data uses ‘Unified Communications’ to increase employee productivity

Dimension Data, a global IT services and solutions provider recently played host to Nigeria’s business community to a workshop in Lagos, Nigeria to showcase Microsoft’s Unified Communications suite of solutions designed to innovatively converge various communications tools on one platform to enhance seamless communications.

The workshop became necessary for Nigerian businesses that often buy services like telephony, instant messaging, audio/video conferencing, teleconferencing, email, voicemail, web conferencing from a myriad of vendors to appreciate Unified communications which offer one platform that can run all these solutions allowing the customer to enjoy uninterrupted seamless communications.

Mr. Jide Agbaje, General Manager, Microsoft Solutions, Dimension Data explained that the workshop served to enable customers get a deeper understanding of what the solution is really about. “When we are talking about unified communications, it means every means of communication that you have, from office chat, to video conferencing to calls and emails can be combined to work seamlessly from one single and unified platform.”

Unified Communications suite of services was designed in answer to the business community who have often decried the many issues faced when running various different communications platforms including problems like multiple vendor support centre and administrators, integration and interoperability problems, high cost of ownership and support, difficulty with deployment and upgrade pathways.

With Unified Communications having one platform, all these problems can be address with particular emphasis on enabling substantial cost savings and increasing workforce productivity. Several companies in various sectors within the Nigerian economy have already deployed this solution with more rolling out in the next few months.
